Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) is a public gaming regulatory institution which was established under the Gaming Act No. 4 of 2003. Its main functions are to oversee, monitor, and regulate the conduct of gaming activities in Tanzania. GBT is seeking to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the following job positions:

1. DIRECTOR OF STRATEGIC OPERATIONS AND LEGAL SERVICES (DSOLS) - (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Principal advisor and assistant to the Director General on gaming licensing, inspectorate and compliance and legal functions;
  2. Enforces compliance with the Gaming Act No.4 2003 and its respective Gaming Regulations;
  3. Manages and coordinates the licensing function of all gaming activities;
  4. Plans, coordinates, control and conduct inspection of all gaming activities to assess compliance with the Gaming Act and Regulations; 
  5. Reviews the gaming legislation, regulations, rules and procedures and advice on appropriate improvement;
  6. Plans and conducts inspection of gaming devices to ascertain compliance with technical standards;
  7. Advices on imposition of taxes, levies and fees in respect of gaming activities;
  8. Monitors and measures licensees’ performance and compliance with the gaming legislations; 
  9. Conducts continuous study and investigation on gaming activities for purposes of ascertaining defects in the legislations in order to discover abuses in administration and operations of the industry and to deal with them;
  10. Oversees effective and efficient application of provision of the Gaming Act, 2003 in order to ensure technical, commercial and environment aspects of gaming industry are in conformity with provision of the Act;
  11. Coordinates regulatory cooperation with other competent authorities and relevant key stakeholders;
  12. Performs other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Director General.

Qualifications:

Holder of a Master Degree in Laws, Economics, Gaming, Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration or Information and Communication Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with at least seven years of relevant working experience, five of which must be in senior management position.

2. SENIOR INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER II (System Auditor - 1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a comprehensive audit plan outlining the scope, objectives, and methodology for assessing information systems;
  2. Identify and assess risks related to information systems and technology, including vulnerabilities and potential impacts on business operations;
  3. Review and evaluate ICT systems, applications, and processes for compliance with internal policies and external regulations;
  4. Test the effectiveness of ICT controls and security measures to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and availability;
  5. Examine system documentation, policies, and procedures to verify adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
  6. Analyze system data and logs to identify anomalies, inefficiencies, or areas of concern;
  7. Prepare detailed audit reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and action plans for addressing identified issues;
  8. Work closely with ICT and security teams to address audit findings and improve systems and controls;
  9. Conduct follow-up audits to ensure corrective actions are timely implemented and are effective;
  10. Provide training and awareness programs to members of staff on best practices for information security and system use;
  11. Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards to ensure systems are compliant;
  12. Recommend improvements to ICT processes and controls to enhance overall system security and performance;
  13. Use data analysis techniques, tools and software to translate data into actionable insights;
  14. Collect, interpret and present data in a meaningful way to support audit conclusions;
  15. Perform other relevant duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

      Qualifications:

Holder of Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Informatics or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution with a minimum of seven years of working experience in relevant field. Possession of CISA certification will be an added advantage.

3. INTERNAL AUDITOR III (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To support preparation of annual audit plan
  2. To evaluate and recommend for improvement of internal control system, risk management and corporate governance;
  3. To develop internal audit programs;
  4. To prepare Audit working papers;
  5. To prepare audit reports;
  6. To manage and keep audit files and other relevant information;
  7. To participate in annual stock taking and fixed assets verification;
  8. To conduct normal, special, technical audits and investigations;
  9. To verify audit queries;
  10. To monitor implementation of internal audit recommendations
  11. To provide support in the undertakings of all Audit functions;
  12. Perform other relevant duties as may be assigned by supervisor

      Qualifications:

Holder of Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in one of the following fields: Auditing, Accountancy, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration (majoring in Accountancy or Finance) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution and must be a holder of CPA (T), with at least three years working experience in Audit.

4. LICENCING OFFICER III (3 Posts)

Duties and responsibilities:

1.    To assist in reviewing applications for gaming licenses to determine their adequacy and completeness;

2.    To assist in developing and maintaining data base of gaming licensees.

3.    To assist in drawing up prescribed forms and other documents;

4.    To assist in processing business and financial analysis of operators and new applicants;

5.    To assist in ascertaining potential areas for review of the gaming legislation

6.    To attend to dispute resolution; and

7.    To perform other relevant duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:                  

Holder of Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields: Law, Accounting, Finance, Gaming, Business Administration, Information Systems, Taxation or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

5. INSPECTOR III– (5 Posts)

      Duties and responsibilities

  1. To assist in conducting inspection of licensed operations to assess compliance with the gaming legislation;
  2. To conduct inspections of prospective gaming premises to determine suitability for gaming operations;
  3. To assist in preparing inspection reports on inspected gaming activities;
  4. To assist in conducting reconciliation of information and data on the conduct and outcome of lottery operations;
  5. To conduct registration of gaming devices;
  6. To assist in updating information related to gaming devices and other relevant information; and
  7. To perform other relevant duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Holder of Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields: Law, Accounting, Finance, Gaming, Business Administration, Information Systems, Taxation or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution. The applicant with hand on experience on gaming will have an added advantage.

6. ASSISTANT SUPPLIES OFFICER – (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To receive materials from suppliers to ensure there is conformity with specifications, quality and quantity correspond to given specification and storing the same in a safe place;
  2. To issue materials by ensuring quantity and materials issued corresponds with the approved store issuing voucher;
  3. To post issued vouchers to ensure stock balance corresponds with received/issued items at all times;
  4. To maintain details of store records and equipment;
  5. To follows up overdue orders.
  6. To prepares periodic stock reports
  7. To assist in planning of annual stock taking exercise
  8. To perform other relevant duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Holder of Diploma in Procurement and Supplies Management, Materials Management, Logistics Management or equivalent qualifications from recognized institution and must be registered by PSPTB as Procurement and Supplies Technician or Procurement and Supplies Full Technician. He/ She must be computer literate.

7. OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY II – (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To take dictations and transcribe accordingly;
  2. To receive telephone calls and book outgoing telephone calls as required;
  3. To attend routine hotel and travel arrangements of the executives;
  4. To keep files, sensitive documents and other material in secured or confidential place;
  5. To reply correspondences regarding routine issues which require standard information with added responsibilities on decision-making and problem solving;
  6. To guide and train subordinates on their work; and
  7. To perform other relevant duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Holder of Diploma in Secretarial Studies who has passed Shorthand (English) and Hati Mkato (Kiswahili) at a speed of 100 words per minute with computer knowledge in MS-Office, Internet, Email, MS-Publisher from recognized institutions with a working experience of at least seven years in related field with MDEA I Certification.

  1. The applicant should be a Tanzania citizen aged not above 45 years EXCEPT FOR those in Public Service and the DSOLS post.

  8. The applicant must attach certified copies of academic certificates relevant to the respective position 
  9. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA);
  10. Professional certificates from foreign universities and other training institutions should be verified by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).
