The Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) hosted a delegation from the National Lottery Board (NLB) of Kenya led by the Chairperson of the Board, Dr. Farida Karoney, for a learning visit aimed at exchanging experiences and gaining practical insights into the management and operation of National Lottery activities.

The delegation was received and hosted by the Chairperson of the Gaming Board of Tanzania, Ambassador Modest J. Mero, who emphasized the importance of institutional cooperation and knowledge sharing in strengthening regulatory effectiveness and promoting sustainable sector development.

Throughout the visit, the delegation gained insights into Tanzania's experience in the establishment, regulation and oversight of the National Lottery. Discussions covered the legal and institutional framework, regulatory mechanisms, operational systems, technological innovations and stakeholder engagement approaches that support the effective management of National Lottery operations.

The visit formed part of NLB's efforts to learn from Tanzania's experience as Kenya advances preparations towards the operationalization of its National Lottery.

In addition to technical sessions held at GBT, the delegation visited Ithuba Tanzania, the operator of the National Lottery, where members gained practical exposure to operational systems and management processes involved in running National Lottery activities.

The visit provided an important platform for knowledge exchange and strengthened institutional cooperation between Tanzania and Kenya while promoting the sharing of best practices in National Lottery management and oversight.
